The Behavioral Health in Schools and Communities (BHSC) specialization promotes enhanced accessibility and service quality for families, children, and adolescents facing developmental, social-emotional, and behavioral challenges. This specialization suits students pursuing careers in behavioral health consultation, direct service provision, disability support programs, and administrative leadership. BHSC professionals also engage in policy development, educational initiatives, and advocacy efforts. The curriculum covers emotional/behavioral disorders, proven intervention strategies for individuals and groups, program design, and data-driven service implementation. Graduates fulfill all academic prerequisites for Pennsylvania's Behavior Specialist License. Optional coursework allows students to additionally qualify for the BCBA certification. Note: The BHSC program is not clinically oriented and doesn't meet licensure requirements for psychology, counseling, or related therapeutic professions in any practice setting.
