The Visual Studies program at the University of Pennsylvania equips students to create groundbreaking links between various fields focused on visual perception and imagery. Learners develop critical thinking skills about visual observation, along with exploring the challenges and opportunities of examining, analyzing, and documenting visual culture in modern times. With its inherently cross-disciplinary approach, the program collaborates with Philosophy, Psychology, Art History, Fine Arts, and Architecture departments. Participants might also explore related offerings like Cinema Studies or Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies, as well as opportunities beyond Arts and Sciences in the Annenberg School for Communication and the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
