The Penn Sociology Undergraduate Program aims to equip students with knowledge of social frameworks and how personal experiences connect to these structures. Our curriculum enables students to recognize and interpret societal patterns by exploring how broad social forces (like class, racial, and gender disparities) influence individual lives, and conversely, how personal actions shape larger social dynamics. Additionally, the program familiarizes students with key social science research techniques, covering qualitative methods like ethnography, quantitative approaches including statistical analysis, and population study methodologies.
