The Latin American and Latinx Studies (LALS) Program provides an interdisciplinary major and minor focused on examining the history, arts, languages, cultures, societies, political systems, and regional institutions of Latin American and Caribbean nations, along with Latinx populations in the U.S. Through courses spanning multiple Arts and Sciences departments, study abroad opportunities across Latin America, and community-engaged learning with Philadelphia-area Latinx organizations, the LALS program delivers a thorough exploration of Latin American and Latinx Studies while allowing students to tailor their studies to their specific interests.

Qualification Requirements
International applicant should have completed a program of secondary education that would enable you to enter a university in your own country (e.g., A-levels, Abitur).
A strong command of the English language is necessary for successful study at Penn. Applicants whose families do not speak English at home, or applicants who have not attended a high school or secondary school where the primary language of instruction is English, are asked to take the TOEFL, the Test of English as a Foreign Language, administered by the Educational Testing Service.
