The Environmental History and Regional Studies concentration equips students with temporal and spatial frameworks for examining environmental issues. This 15-credit program combines coursework from multiple disciplines. Graduates gain expertise in human-ecosystem relationships and Earth's dynamic systems, including physical/chemical processes, atmospheric science, climate patterns, geological formations, natural disasters, and hydrological/biogeochemical cycles. The curriculum develops competencies in environmental economics, public health, sustainable practices, renewable resources, and ecosystem management. Students additionally acquire specialized knowledge about human-environment relationships, global and local ecological challenges, plus comprehensive understanding of environmental policy development and reform processes.
