The Environmental Science focus area in the Earth Science program combines geology, biology, chemistry, and physics to enable students to scientifically examine environmental systems and human impacts on our planet. This specialization/degree requires 15 credits from various course categories listed below. The Earth Science program equips graduates with comprehensive knowledge of Earth's physical and chemical processes, along with techniques for studying its structure, composition, and dynamic systems. Students gain insight into human-environment interactions, developing expertise in climate systems, geological cycles, environmental risks, and Earth's water and nutrient cycles. They also learn to analyze rock formations, sediment layers, and fossil records to interpret Earth's geological past and assess potential environmental risks or natural resources.
