The University of Oregon's keyboard department provides specialized programs in piano performance, accompaniment, chamber music, piano instruction, jazz keyboard, organ, and harpsichord.
Piano students benefit from top-tier professional instruction in a setting focused on individualized attention. The piano faculty members hold degrees from prestigious music conservatories. UO pianists experience performing on premium instruments, including nine-foot Hamburg and American Steinway concert grand pianos—among the finest available worldwide—while practicing on modern Steinway Model A pianos.
Keyboard students actively compete in events, earn recognition at national festivals, and frequently have opportunities to learn from—and perform for—renowned guest artists like Emanuel Ax, John Perry, Nelita True, Elizabeth Pridonoff, Peter Mack, and Anne-Marie McDermott.
Weekly performance sessions occur in Beall Concert Hall, celebrated both for its superb acoustic qualities and its striking Baroque-style Jurgen Ahrend pipe organ.
