The choral conducting curriculum equips students for professional paths in community, religious, and academic conducting by enhancing their musical abilities and cultivating an extensive understanding of conductor repertoire. Students receive personalized instruction from choral conducting professors and participate in regular supervised sessions with both the Repertory and Recital choruses. Participation in the Yale Camerata is mandatory, along with weekly seminars and annual conducting recitals. First-year participants co-direct the Repertory Chorus in joint performances, while advanced students present solo degree recitals with the Recital Chorus. Additionally, two terms of vocal study are required as a secondary focus. Selected students may have the opportunity to assist with faculty-directed ensembles.
