The College of Music's graduate program ranks among the nation's most extensive and diverse offerings. Holding accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music since 1930, the institution boasts a distinguished legacy of producing exceptional performers, composers, academics, educators, and music therapists.
The Master of Arts in Music provides a versatile graduate education, combining fundamental academic and performance requirements with opportunities for specialized study tailored to each student's goals. Core curriculum ensures mastery in performance, music history (or ethnomusicology), and music theory, along with research methodology proficiency. Elective options span various disciplines such as commercial music, sacred music, and entrepreneurship, accommodating individual interests and talents. Students can choose between a 30-credit thesis track or a 32-credit non-thesis alternative.
A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or a comparable degree from an international institution, with a minimum 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) grade point average (GPA) in all coursework attempted while enrolled as an upper-division undergraduate student working towards a bachelor's degree.
