The Master of Arts in Global Studies provides an interdisciplinary graduate program for students pursuing careers in international relations, global development, diplomacy, multinational organizations, or domestic entities with global operations. This two-year program follows a quarterly academic calendar, where three quarters (one year) equal two semesters. Each student can customize their degree path to align with their professional aspirations. Working closely with faculty advisors, students craft a curriculum that blends specialized professional knowledge with comprehensive global studies training.
The Global Studies Department fosters a dynamic integration of theory and practice, utilizing diverse academic perspectives to tackle evolving worldwide challenges. Our interdisciplinary approach examines the connections, disruptions, and contradictions within global transformation processes across different regions and cultures. Scholarship and teaching emphasize power dynamics, systemic inequalities, and identity formation, with particular attention to how global shifts affect communities and individuals. We are dedicated to analyzing social change while advancing intercultural dialogue, equity, sustainability, Indigenous rights, and educational access.
Our MA program prepares students for impactful careers in sustainable development, international education, public health, human rights advocacy, and similar fields. Alumni consistently find employment with NGOs, international organizations, policy institutes, education abroad programs, government agencies, and academic institutions. Operating on a trimester system (fall, winter, spring), our program's three terms correspond to two semesters. Most students complete their degree within two years, with many obtaining financial support for research or thesis work through various funding opportunities.
