The University of Oregon's Anthropology Department offers opportunities to explore diverse cultures and communities, excavate fossils, observe primate behavior, discover ancient artifacts, and beyond. Focus on your academic passions through our three specialized tracks: sociocultural anthropology, physical anthropology, and archaeological studies.

Our faculty consists of practicing anthropologists conducting research on historical and contemporary societies across West Africa, East Africa, Latin America, North America, East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania, and the Caribbean. Examine humanity through ecological and evolutionary lenses while developing comprehensive knowledge of human biological diversity and our connections to other species. Engage in global fieldwork programs that involve artifact recovery expeditions and international cultural immersion experiences.
