The undergraduate Anthropology Program highlights our department's dedication to four-field anthropology, encompassing Anthropological Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, Sociocultural Anthropology, and Linguistic Anthropology. This integrated perspective supports anthropology's fundamental aim of developing a thorough and comparative study of humankind. Pursuing an Anthropology major enhances a liberal arts education by fostering a structured understanding of human conduct and societal structures across various cultures and historical periods. examines how communication methods like speech, music, humor, digital messaging, and debate shape our identities. We explore how interpersonal exchanges form social bonds, power dynamics, cultural expressions, and societal evolution. Our focus extends beyond direct interactions to include how external influences (including media) become incorporated into them. Analyzing these nuances reveals how broader societal frameworks emerge—such as workplace hierarchies or international tensions—and potential avenues for transformation.
