The graduate program in World Languages Education equips students to enhance their careers as language instructors across various educational settings, from PK-12 schools to higher education institutions. Tailored for experienced PK-12 language teachers, this program focuses on implementing authentic, comprehension-based communicative approaches to language instruction.
It also serves adult learners pursuing world language teaching certification or those aiming to teach languages at the collegiate level. Alumni of this program now teach at all grade levels, develop curricula, lead district-wide language programs, provide professional training, and hold university faculty positions nationwide. With world language education remaining a critical need, program graduates enjoy excellent career prospects in both PK-12 and higher education sectors.
To deepen cultural understanding and language skills, students are highly encouraged to take advantage of OU's diverse study abroad programs.
