These programs cater to both continuing and full-time students, as well as working professionals who prefer to distribute their coursework across multiple years. The College consistently provides core classes and select electives during evening hours. Typically, full-time students can finish a master's degree within four standard semesters, while part-time students can progress at their preferred speed, with a maximum completion window of five years.
Focus Areas
Creative Media Production
This specialization allows students to explore personal interests in video production and multimedia through combined theoretical and hands-on learning. Students customize their studies by selecting core research and theory courses alongside specialized classes or independent projects in video production and interactive media.
Media Management
The media management track prepares students for leadership roles in the industry by offering targeted courses that build essential skills. Participants personalize their education through core media research classes, JMC 5970 Fundamentals of Media Management, and additional JMC coursework or faculty-guided independent study. Supplementary classes in marketing, business administration, and/or human relations can be selected to align with individual career goals.
Journalism
This concentration tackles both practical and theoretical aspects of news gathering, editing, and presentation. Students can explore digital journalism through relevant coursework, supplemented by a variety of interdisciplinary classes tailored to their professional aspirations.
Strategic Communication: PR and Advertising
Graduate-level strategic communication appeals particularly to those pursuing careers in advertising, public relations, or research. Building on core curriculum foundations, this emphasis blends theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Students may enhance their studies with elective courses from related fields like marketing, human relations, communication, and psychology.
