Geospatial technology has become so ubiquitous that we often take its presence for granted. Yet, envisioning daily life without tools like Google Maps, Yelp, and similar location-based services found on smartphones and devices is nearly unthinkable. To address the growing need for GIS experts, the Department of Geography and Environmental Sustainability provides a specialized embedded program. This certification requires completing 12 credit hours of coursework.
Our globally acclaimed students, faculty, and staff are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of cutting-edge research and academic work to promote sustainability in global systems today and tomorrow. This mission grows increasingly vital as climate change and shifting large-scale weather patterns reshape our world.
