The University of Oklahoma's School of Music is dedicated to fostering education, creative scholarship, and community engagement. Its faculty and students strive to excel in musical instruction, performance-based research, and professional contributions that elevate the field both nationally and globally. Founded in 1903 as OU's second academic school, it has held Institutional Membership with the National Association of Schools of Music since 1931. As Oklahoma's sole doctoral-level music institution, the School enriches its community through the artistic and academic achievements of its members. OU grants music degrees across various disciplines including composition, education, music history, performance, and theory. While honoring its heritage, the School continues to develop forward-thinking programs that equip students for a dynamic and inclusive musical landscape.
