The principles of Physics, spanning from relativity to quantum theory, push the boundaries of creativity, while innovations from physicists significantly influence chemistry, biology, medicine, electronics, geology, and more. At the Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy within the College of Arts and Sciences, students develop exceptional problem-solving abilities, preparing them for diverse careers in academia, government, and industry—far exceeding conventional Physics roles. The department provides engaging, practical courses like the senior capstone Physics class, blending collaborative peer sessions to enhance presentation and analytical skills with personalized faculty mentorship. Physics undergraduates can choose between two degree paths. The professional Physics track caters to those aiming for graduate studies in Physics or allied scientific fields like Engineering.
