Anthropology provides a comprehensive exploration of humanity, examining both biological and cultural dimensions across different eras and regions. Our Anthropology Department's faculty specialize in diverse areas including archaeology, sociocultural studies, linguistic anthropology, and health/human biology (combining biological, molecular, and medical anthropology). We place special emphasis on Native American anthropology while also maintaining expertise in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and the Pacific Islands. Our goal is to promote understanding and appreciation of human diversity. As the sole anthropology department within the state's higher education network, we offer dynamic programs for both graduate and undergraduate students. Undergraduates can pursue either a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology or a Bachelor of Science in Human Health & Biology. These programs incorporate coursework across various anthropological subfields along with research methodology training, providing students with a thorough perspective on human societies worldwide, both historically and contemporarily. Students can gain hands-on experience through fieldwork options, participation in the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, and the Honors College. We collaborate closely with the Oklahoma Archaeological Survey and the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History, while also promoting global study opportunities to further enrich our students' educational experiences.
