Discover how applied anthropology tackles distinct public health challenges. This dual degree program in Applied Anthropology and Public Health enables students to enhance interdisciplinary cooperation in research and practice while completing two master's degrees in significantly less time. Through a partnership between the University of North Texas at Denton's Department of Anthropology and the UNT Health Sciences Center's School of Public Health in Fort Worth, students can concurrently work toward a Master of Public Health alongside either a Master of Arts or Master of Science in Applied Anthropology.
Medical anthropology applies anthropological perspectives to examine public health concerns, focusing on how social and cultural factors shape health, illness, and treatment approaches. These insights align with broader objectives of advancing health equity and social justice to reduce disparities both locally and worldwide. Designed as a 2-3 year curriculum, this program equips graduates for professional roles in research, public health initiatives, and health policy development, whether working domestically or internationally.
