The UNC Greensboro Master's in Genetic Counseling Program equips students with the expertise needed to work as genetic counselors across diverse environments, spanning both non-clinical and clinical areas like prenatal care, pediatrics, adult medicine, and cancer genetics. We strive to create an outstanding educational atmosphere where students gain the necessary abilities, understanding, and professional standards to deliver ethical, culturally aware genetic counseling in multiple healthcare contexts.
UNCG proudly hosts North Carolina's inaugural M.S. in Genetic Counseling program and ranks among 54 such programs across North America.
Upon completion, graduates qualify to pursue Active Candidate Status with the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) and take the ABGC certification test.
Students can access 18 standard rotation sites at nine different institutions, plus optional placements outside the state and internationally.
To date, UNCG's program has produced 158 genetic counseling graduates, with more joining their ranks each year.
