The 30-credit master's program in mathematics provides five specialization tracks: Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Data Analytics, Actuarial Mathematics, and Teaching College Mathematics. Each concentration has distinct requirements, with all course selections requiring approval from the graduate studies director.
Prospective PhD candidates in Computational Mathematics are strongly encouraged to choose the comprehensive exam's area examinations as their master's culminating experience.
Research opportunities span diverse fields such as Combinatorics, Differential Equations, Geometric Group Theory, Number Theory, Mathematical Biology, Statistics, and Topology.
A limited number of MA students qualify for annual stipends of $10,800 along with full tuition waivers.

Our faculty maintain active research programs with funding from prestigious organizations including the Joseph M. Bryan Foundation, National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, National Security Agency, NC Quest, and Simons Foundation.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or appropriately evaluated credentials for non-U.S. schools.
English Language Proficiency: TOEFL: internet based - 79, or paper based - 550. A score of at least 6.5 is required on the IELTS.
