The Master of Arts in mathematics aims to equip students for teaching professions while also establishing a strong base for roles in science, business, government, or other math-related fields. The Mathematics Department provides graduate programs culminating in Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Science, and Master of Arts degrees in mathematics.
This Master of Arts program specifically targets secondary school mathematics educators.
Prerequisite: Candidates must complete at least 9 credits in mathematics courses at the 200 level or higher.
Requirements:
Students must complete 30 credits, with a minimum of 18 credits from 600-level or higher mathematics courses. This includes one full-year sequence from: 613-614, 615-616, 624-625, 631-632, 633-634, or 661-662. Any courses from other departments must be at the 700 level or above, relevant to secondary math education, and receive graduate committee approval.
