The Master of Science in Mathematics program offers five specialized tracks.
The General Mathematics concentration provides a versatile curriculum, enabling students to explore diverse mathematical topics across both theoretical and practical domains, or to customize their studies toward specific interdisciplinary interests not fully addressed by other concentrations.
The Applied Mathematics concentration hones analytical and computational abilities for applying mathematical principles in scientific fields relevant to industrial, governmental, and academic settings.
The Mathematics Education track primarily serves secondary educators looking to enhance their mathematical teaching expertise, focusing on deepening pedagogical knowledge and instructional methods for high school classrooms.
The Actuarial Statistics concentration equips students with advanced quantitative skills for careers in insurance and finance sectors.
The Applied Statistics concentration delivers comprehensive training in statistical techniques and methodologies for practical use in business, industry, government, and academic research.

Qualification Requirements

In addition to the general requirements for admission to the Graduate School, the following are required for the concentration in General Mathematics:
Applicants must present evidence of the satisfactory completion of at least 27 credit hours of mathematics approved by the department Graduate Committee.
A satisfactory score is required on at least the Quantitative portion of the general Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
It is recommended that the student have a basic knowledge of at least two of the areas of algebra, real analysis, and topology.
GPA 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)

For non-native English language speakers: official and satisfactory scores on the English language proficiency scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) are required. A minimum score of 83 on the Internet-based TOEFL or a minimum overall band score of 6.5 on the IELTS is required for admissions consideration.
