The Master of Arts in Dance with a focus on Theories and Practices provides graduate students with immersive artistic and scholarly experiences that blend hands-on practice, creative exploration, and rigorous academic inquiry. Learning emerges through diverse approaches to dance, including physical training, improvisation, performance creation, choreographic studies, aesthetic analysis, educational methods, somatic practices, historical research, and sociocultural examination. Our program features faculty who are both practicing artists and dedicated scholars, offering mentorship for professional dance careers while supporting academic growth within our department. Students benefit from an outstanding teaching mentorship initiative covering dance technique instruction, choreographic and performance coaching, dance history education, and pedagogical theories for public school settings.
