The Department of Dance provides graduate education culminating in a Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance. This program enables students to refine technical abilities, develop artistic intuition and creative craftsmanship in both dance creation and performance, while concentrating on essential dance studies.

Designed for working dance professionals, choreographers, and educators, the MFA in Dance features flexible scheduling with on-campus and online courses during fall and spring semesters, complemented by intensive summer graduate classes.

This 60-credit program emphasizes contemporary choreography and performance, centered around each student's individual creative investigation. Graduate candidates pursue choreographic exploration through physical and theoretical study while analyzing their movement techniques from modern somatic viewpoints. The program fosters student research by offering specialized facilities and performance opportunities in Milwaukee. With faculty guidance and intensive personal exploration, students synthesize their findings into a culminating thesis project.
