The Counseling and Educational Development (CED) Ph.D. program aims to train doctoral candidates as academic leaders and guardians of the counseling field. This intensive, three-year, cohort-style curriculum equips students with advanced theoretical knowledge, practical abilities, multicultural awareness, and analytical skills required to excel as counselor educators across multiple roles - including instruction, clinical supervision, research, advanced practice, consultation, and professional advocacy - while cultivating a distinct specialization.
Every CED program holds CACREP accreditation and requires in-person attendance at UNCG's primary campus. These rigorous full-time programs schedule most classes between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays.
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or appropriately evaluated credentials for non-U.S. schools.
English Language Proficiency: TOEFL: internet based - 79, or paper based - 550. A score of at least 6.5 is required on the IELTS.
