The Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) program caters to bachelor's degree holders, offering a 30-credit curriculum divided into two stages. The initial Graduate Certificate phase (Phase I) consists of 21 credit hours, featuring graduate-level student teaching/internship components, and culminates in eligibility for the Standard Professional I teaching license in Elementary Education. After finishing Phase I, qualified participants can pursue the M.A.T. in Elementary Education (Phase II), which is offered through the University of North Carolina Distance Education Consortium. The final Master's degree requirements (Phase II) prepare candidates for the advanced Standard Professional II teaching credential.
