Clinical mental health counseling combines psychotherapy, practical problem-solving, and crisis intervention into an integrated approach that upholds human dignity and fosters positive mental health results.
Pursuing a counseling career is both challenging and deeply personal. Beyond academic coursework, counselor training requires students to engage authentically with their own emotional growth. The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program supports this personal development by encouraging students to undergo their own counseling experiences as part of their educational journey.
This graduate program equips students to thrive as mental health professionals across diverse settings, including schools, corporations, healthcare facilities, nonprofits, community organizations, and private practices. Through our two-year curriculum, students gain essential face-to-face training and practical experience while learning from accomplished faculty committed to their professional growth. Graduates emerge ready to make meaningful contributions as clinical mental health counselors, serving individuals, couples, families, and communities with skill and confidence.
Our CACREP-accredited program meets rigorous standards for curriculum quality, faculty expertise, and comprehensive training that prepares students for professional success.
Starting from day one, students cultivate cultural competence to effectively serve diverse populations. This training empowers future counselors to connect with and support clients across different religious, economic, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, and racial backgrounds through therapeutic interventions and practical guidance.
The program offers flexible specialization through electives in areas like grief counseling, crisis intervention, spiritual counseling, adolescent therapy, play therapy, and more. Students may also pursue independent research projects under faculty supervision or earn additional certifications in Play Therapy, Gerontology, or Addictions alongside their degree.
