The Graduate Certificate in Gerontology provides specialized postgraduate training focused on aging studies. This curriculum caters to individuals holding a bachelor's degree, outstanding undergraduates nearing completion, graduate degree holders from other disciplines, and current graduate students in different fields. Qualified UNC Charlotte undergraduates may qualify for the Early Entry pathway. To earn the certificate, students must complete at least 12 credit hours of graduate-level aging-related coursework, with most participants finishing the program within two academic terms.

Qualification Requirements

addition to the general requirements for admission to a certificate program, applicants must provide:
GPA of 2.75 or higher on all post-secondary work attempted.
Official transcripts of all baccalaureate and graduate work attempted
Two letters of recommendation from persons familiar with the applicant's professional and personal qualifications, these letters may be waived if the student is already enrolled in a master's or doctoral program
An essay describing the applicant's relevant experience and objectives in undertaking graduate study in Gerontology
A resume
A minimum TOEFL score of 220 (computer-based), 557 (paper-based), or 83 (Internet-based) or a minimum IELTS band score of 6.5 required from any applicant whose native language is not English
