The dual degree program in public health emphasizes macro-level practice, equipping social work students with skills in program design, administration, assessment, policy formulation, and advocacy within maternal and child health. A collaborative partnership between the MCH Department and School of Social Work (SSW) enables students to pursue combined MSPH/MSW or MPH/MSW degrees. Candidates with at least one year of professional experience after completing their undergraduate studies may apply concurrently to both the School of Public Health and School of Social Work. For those enthusiastic about the Dual Degree program but lacking post-bachelor's experience, we recommend initially applying solely to the School of Social Work, then submitting an application to MCH during their first year of social work studies (by January 1). Applications featuring faculty endorsements regarding your graduate study potential and public health interests will be particularly competitive.
