This dual-degree program enables students to obtain both a Master of Social Work and a Master of Public Administration, equipping them for leadership positions in public service and human resources management. Participants gain expertise in two distinct yet complementary professional fields. The MPA qualification is granted by UNC-Chapel Hill's School of Government (SOG).
The program requires 92 credit hours (50 in social work and 42 in public administration) across three years, with students needing approval from program advisors for their study plans.
During the initial year, students focus on social work coursework and field placements in both fall and spring semesters. The second year combines social work and public administration classes, followed by a summer practicum. The final year involves advanced public administration studies and any outstanding social work requirements.
The minimum requirements are a bachelor's degree (based on a four-year curriculum) completed before graduate study begins or its international equivalent with an accredited institution; an average grade of B (cumulative GPA 3.0) or better.
The required minimum total score on the exams are internet-based TOEFL exam = 90, The IELTS exam = 7.
