The UNC-Chapel Hill Master of Social Work program ranks among the nation's top social work degree programs. Each year, approximately 300 students join our School, which emphasizes evidence-based learning approaches.
Through its 2-Year MSW Program, the UNC School of Social Work provides a conventional full-time curriculum. Students commence studies in August, undertake two years of fall and spring coursework, and complete their degree in May. Field placements start during the initial semester and persist throughout the entire program duration.
MSW candidates select between two specialization tracks aligned with their professional goals: direct practice (DP) or community, management, and policy practice (CMPP), commonly referred to as macro social work. This concentration choice shapes multiple aspects of the educational journey, including elective selections, field placement opportunities, and future career trajectories.
