Examine social, political and systemic transformation through the framework of intersectionality, power dynamics and privilege. Develop skills to strengthen communities and champion a fairer, more just society. Stand up for and assist individuals from diverse backgrounds in tackling social, economic, cultural and environmental inequities. Earning a Master of Social Work from CSUN will enable you to identify and confront systemic oppression through multiple viewpoints.

You'll acquire expertise to link clients with support services and manage emergency scenarios. These competencies will qualify you for roles across various environments such as educational institutions, social service organizations, healthcare facilities and psychiatric centers.
CSUN's Social Work Department trains you to become a catalyst for positive transformation, ready to enhance quality of life in disadvantaged urban areas. Our approach incorporates intersectional, anti-racist, trauma-aware and cooperative methodologies. We honor an inclusive, strengths-focused identity shaped by communal bonds, cultural heritage and geographical context. The program offers hands-on experience with micro, mezzo and macro-level practice, guided by cultural sensitivity and professional responsibility.
