The sport administration graduate program launched in autumn 1982. Over three decades, we've helped students achieve academic excellence and professional growth in the sports sector. We welcome dynamic, driven, and talented individuals to participate in our distinctive exploration of collegiate athletics. Chapel Hill also ranks among America's most desirable locations for living, learning, and professional development.
The Department of Exercise and Sport Science's graduate programs enable students to collaborate with leading global researchers. The curriculum features three distinct specializations. While sharing foundational courses, each specialization provides unique faculty expertise and learning prospects. Discover what we have to offer.
In their initial semester, all students can observe multiple second-year peers. After gaining insight into various internship roles, first-year students prioritize their preferred placements each January. From February through March, candidates interview with their top 35 selections. Following these meetings, students reassess their preferences after interacting with department teams. Faculty advisors similarly evaluate candidates post-interview. The matching process considers both student and supervisor preferences, with placements typically announced by late March or early April, depending on scheduling factors.
