Students can pursue a dual degree program combining a J.D. with either a Master of Science in Library Science or Master of Science in Information Science through collaboration between UNC's School of Law and School of Information and Library Science. Applicants must secure separate admission to both schools. This joint program entails completing 113 credit hours across four academic years. Both institutions' degree requirements must be fully satisfied before either degree is conferred.

A bachelor's degree (based on a four-year curriculum) completed before graduate study begins or its international equivalent with an accredited institution an average grade of B (cumulative GPA 3.0) or better.
