The Biology Department provides several degree paths for majors or secondary majors: a Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS), and a specialized Quantitative Biology Bachelor of Science track (tailored for students focusing on mathematical and computational approaches to biological research). A biology minor is also available. While students can concentrate on diverse biological fields—including animal behavior, biomechanics, botany, cell biology, developmental biology, ecology, evolutionary biology, genetics, genomics, marine biology, microbiology, molecular biology, neurobiology, organismal biology, physiology, and plant biology—no sub-discipline-specific degrees are granted. The Quantitative Biology (Q-Bio) program prepares students for graduate studies in biological or health sciences through interdisciplinary training, culminating in a Bachelor of Science degree.
