The French major equips students with advanced language proficiency while offering an in-depth understanding of Francophone literature, cultures, and civilizations. Students develop research skills focused on French, Francophone, and European studies. Graduates pursue diverse career paths including education, global commerce, legal professions, media, book publishing, social services, healthcare, and advanced academic research in French. The curriculum features varied courses covering French culture, professional language use, advanced communication skills, literary studies, France's contemporary European influence, and cinematic representations of European identities.
All students will be expected to have completed the pre-university curriculum (Secondary School/High School) in their country prior to enrolling at UNC-Chapel Hill. English Language Tests: TOEFL minimum is 100; IELTS minimum is 7.0; PTE minimum is 68.
