The Creative Writing program in the Department of English and Comparative Literature ranks consistently as one of the nation's top programs. Countless graduates have achieved success by authoring books, screenplays, music albums, theatrical productions, and TV programs, while others have advanced to graduate studies in creative writing or published their works in prestigious literary journals, periodicals, and newspapers. Introduced in 2018, the Creative Writing concentration within the English and Comparative Literature (ECL) major equips students with thorough training in storytelling techniques, analytical reasoning, literary interpretation, and artistic communication.
Students can specialize in one of five Creative Writing tracks: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, songwriting, or a mixed-genre approach.
