This program focuses on Indigenous planning as a developing framework that employs culturally sensitive and values-driven methods for community growth. Effective community development demands leadership that can harmonize urgent needs (short-term) with an overarching vision (long-term). For thousands of years, Indigenous cultures have cultivated distinct philosophies, languages, and ways of living that form comprehensive worldviews. The curriculum rests on the principle that historical wisdom shapes current understanding, and together they create a pathway forward. Referred to as the seven generations model, this concept serves as the foundation for practical initiatives and community involvement. The coursework highlights a multidisciplinary approach to design and planning, which is fundamental to creating meaningful spaces.
