The clinical program focuses on educating psychological clinical scientists who will (1) perform research to enhance our knowledge of the causes, diagnosis, and treatment of behavioral health issues with the aim of alleviating them, (2) provide evidence-based interventions for diverse behavioral health conditions, and (3) promote psychological clinical science through activities like publishing, teaching, supervising therapists in evidence-based methods, program development and assessment, and influencing policies to improve care for individuals with behavioral health challenges. Our approach is firmly rooted in the clinical science model, ensuring that scientific principles and practical applications are intertwined throughout the training. As a result, our alumni pursue careers in various fields, such as academia, healthcare institutions, and leadership roles, often balancing research with hands-on psychological care.
Ideal candidates for our program usually possess a solid research background and enthusiasm for inquiry, with many graduates advancing the field of psychological clinical science throughout their professional lives. Therefore, those primarily seeking clinical practice opportunities or who lack interest in research may find our program unsuitable for their goals.
