The Infectious Disease and Immunology specialization offers a tailored curriculum of advanced coursework and hands-on research under the guidance of faculty from the Center for Infectious Diseases and Immunity. This center aims to foster partnerships between scientists, medical professionals, and industry leaders across New Mexico to combat infectious and immune-related inflammatory conditions affecting local communities and global populations. Through epidemiological analysis, investigation of host-pathogen interactions, and creation of novel vaccines, treatments, and diagnostic tools, the program evaluates these innovations through clinical testing.
The Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. with an Infectious Disease and Immunology focus delivers a customized educational experience combining graduate-level instruction with laboratory research supervised by faculty affiliated with the Infectious Diseases and Immunity Signature Research Program. This initiative seeks to strengthen cooperative efforts among New Mexico's research, medical, and commercial sectors to confront infectious and immune-mediated inflammatory disorders. By examining disease patterns, exploring fundamental biological interactions, and creating medical solutions, the program validates these advancements through clinical studies.
