The Cornell University Biomedical and Biological Sciences (BBS) Graduate Program is a cross-disciplinary initiative featuring exceptional graduate students who collaborate with distinguished faculty mentors and research experts to conduct cutting-edge research across fundamental, clinical, and applied life sciences. Based at the Cornell-Ithaca campus within the College of Veterinary Medicine, the program benefits from top-tier research infrastructure, the dynamic Cornell undergraduate environment, and close connections with Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. The BBS Program cultivates a supportive, student-focused academic community that prioritizes accessibility, engagement, and helping graduate students excel in research, instruction, and career growth. Participants in the BBS program choose Special Committee advisors aligned with one of five focus areas: Immunology and Infectious Disease, Molecular and Cellular Medicine, Population Medicine and Epidemiology, Translational Medicine, and Zoology and Wildlife Conservation.
Translational Medicine: This concentration bridges scientific discoveries with clinical applications to enhance animal and human health outcomes. Researchers and medical professionals collaborate on pharmaceutical development, biomarker identification, regenerative medicine approaches, and advanced imaging techniques to address challenges in reproduction, infectious diseases, oncology, heart conditions, and other medically significant fields.
