The Family and Child Studies program explores the intricate factors, connections, and environments that shape human growth throughout life. This program equips students to enhance family and individual welfare, acknowledging that family dynamics and requirements evolve over time within various cultural and social settings. The Human Development and Family Relations specialization includes the opportunity to earn national certification as a family life educator.

A child's earliest educational experiences occur within the family, influencing their academic journey for years to come. Educator training is built upon comprehensive knowledge of family systems and child development. For aspiring early childhood professionals, the program provides two focus areas: Early Childhood Education and Development, along with Early Childhood Multicultural Education Licensure for Pre-K through 3rd grade in New Mexico.
