The Master of Science for Teachers program caters specifically to current English educators looking to enhance their literary expertise and refine their reading and writing abilities. Grounded in the principle that effective teaching methods stem from direct engagement with reading and writing processes, this degree is tailored for active elementary, middle, and high school instructors. Note that this program doesn't lead to state certification.
This graduate program focuses on helping English teachers expand their literary understanding while honing their personal reading and writing competencies. The curriculum builds on the fundamental idea that quality teaching practices originate from hands-on experience with textual analysis and composition.
Designed exclusively for working educators in K-12 settings, the Master of Science for Teachers doesn't serve those pursuing state licensure. Applicants benefit from no foreign language prerequisites and aren't required to submit GRE scores for admission.
International applicants must hold a four-year baccalaureate degree or its equivalent as a precondition for applying to any of our graduate programs. In some cases, you may also need a master’s degree or its equivalent.
English Language Score:
Minimum score requirements are as follows: TOEFL (Computer-based): 213; TOEFL (Internet-based): 80; IELTS (International English Language Testing System): 6.5; TOEFL ITP (Institution Administered): On case-by-case basis; TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication): On case-by-case basis; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 59.
Applications must be completed by the following deadlines in order to be reviewed for admission: Fall: July 1 (final); Spring: Dec. 1 (final); Summer: April 1 (Admission only).
