Our genetics Ph.D. program's demanding cross-disciplinary approach equips you for prominent positions in biotech firms, pharmaceutical companies, academic institutions, and government research facilities. This interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Genetics brings together faculty from numerous departments and the Hubbard Center for Genome Studies. The doctoral program synthesizes knowledge from molecular biology to ecological genetics and genomic research in various biological systems. Program alumni are prepared to assume leadership roles in biotech and pharmaceutical industries, pursue research careers in academic or government settings, and excel in university-level teaching and scholarly investigation.
International applicants must hold a four-year baccalaureate degree or its equivalent as a precondition for applying to any of our graduate programs. In some cases, you may also need a master’s degree or its equivalent.
Students must have a completion of foundational courses in biology, chemistry (including organic chemistry), physics, and mathematics.

Minimum score requirements are as follows: TOEFL (Computer-based): 213; TOEFL (Internet-based): 80; IELTS (International English Language Testing System): 6.5; TOEFL ITP (Institution Administered): On case-by-case basis; TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication): On case-by-case basis; Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 59.
