Social work focuses on assisting individuals, families, and communities with everyday challenges while giving voice to those in need. This profession advances social, economic, and environmental justice to elevate living standards and strengthen both individual and community welfare. As a UNH social work student, you'll explore the profession's history, ethical principles, and social welfare policies. The program combines liberal arts education with specialized studies in human behavior and social work methodologies. Graduates emerge ready for entry-level practice or advanced studies in social work and related disciplines.
The UNH social work program provides practical training through a 40-hour human service placement and a 450-hour internship. Students can collaborate with professors on research initiatives as well. Our nationally recognized program meets the strict accreditation criteria set by the Council on Social Work Education. With small class sizes and favorable faculty-to-student ratios, our graduates consistently find relevant employment or pursue advanced degrees shortly after completing their studies.
