The Physics Department provides graduate studies culminating in either a Master of Science (M.S.) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics. In the initial two years, students follow a structured curriculum covering essential subjects like Mathematical Physics, Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Quantum Mechanics, and Statistical Mechanics.
For the M.S. degree, candidates can choose between completing core courses with a research thesis or passing a Comprehensive Examination. Ph.D. candidates engage in research activities alongside their coursework during these foundational years. Later, Ph.D. students focus on a specific research area, ultimately producing a dissertation.
The curriculum is designed to deliver comprehensive graduate-level physics knowledge. Courses offer both fundamental physics principles and specialized research topics. Graduates emerge equipped to conduct advanced physics research, particularly at the doctoral level.
