The Planetary Sciences Track within the Physics MS program aims to cultivate a dynamic research atmosphere that draws exceptional students, scholars, and professors while making meaningful contributions to space exploration. This specialized track equips students to excel in the international planetary sciences research field.
To complete the Planetary Sciences track, students must fulfill a minimum of 33 graduate credit hours under their Supervisory Committee's guidance. The curriculum includes 15 mandatory credit hours, 6 thesis preparation hours, with the remaining credits consisting of electives and directed research selected with committee approval. A minimum of 50% of credits must be at the 6000 level, and independent study is capped at 6 credits toward the degree. The program culminates in a thesis and defense, with no non-thesis option available in this track.
