The Master of Music in Music Education is tailored for practicing music educators. This program enhances your instructional abilities in music. Note that our MM in Music Education programs do not automatically qualify graduates for teaching certification. We provide coursework for initial Nevada music certification, which can be completed alongside or independently of the MM degree. Those pursuing initial licensure, whether combined with the MM or not, must also participate in the Professional Certificate program through the College of Education and Human Development.
The Master of Music with a focus on Choral and Education serves current music teachers. Applicants to any Music Education MM program must provide a teaching demonstration video as part of the admission process.
Our music department holds membership in the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Furthermore, our music education program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), which promotes excellence in teacher training through rigorous standards that ensure quality and foster ongoing development to improve K-12 education.
