The Master of Arts in Gender, Race, and Identity is an interdisciplinary program designed to equip students for diverse professional paths. This graduate program welcomes applicants from various academic and experiential backgrounds.
Building on critical theory frameworks, feminist methodologies, and specialized fields like ethnic studies, gender studies, sexuality studies, and religious studies, this degree offers rigorous academic exploration of identity intersections that influence human experiences. Through their studies, learners engage with fundamental concepts concerning power dynamics, systemic inequality, diversity principles, and inclusive practices, while developing interdisciplinary analytical skills, effective communication strategies, and project development competencies for addressing societal challenges.
Program participants will achieve the following outcomes:
Acquire comprehensive knowledge of interdisciplinary theoretical approaches and their practical applications in examining identity formation, cultural representation, systemic discrimination, and societal transformation.
Analyze and articulate intricate social systems, belief structures, institutional frameworks, and power relations that influence critical dialogues, policy formation, and everyday realities.
Develop advanced critical writing and communication abilities suitable for academic, activist, and professional contexts.
Applicants to the M. A. program should hold or expect to receive a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year university.
A cumulative grade point average of 2.75 is also required for admission
